Hunting
Vandenberg AFB offers hunter's access to approximately 70K square acres of hunting land, 7 days a week (Mission operations determines closures.)
Hunter Orange Requirement
9.1. BIG GAME HUNTERS: Must wear a blaze orange vest or a blaze orange outer garment and a blaze orange hat or cap. Big game archery hunters checked-in to an archery area are exempt. Blaze orange broken up by camouflage is acceptable.
Oudoor Locator Card Requirement
Hunters are required to display a completed Outdoor Locator Card on their vehicle dashboard, seen clearly visible through the windshield. These cards are available at the Conservation Law Enforcement Office.
Transportation of Firearms
3.1.4. Transporting of all firearms on the installation is prohibited except to and from authorized storage or shooting areas to include hunting areas. Firearms must be cleared and safe, with the breech open and equipped with a tamper-resistant mechanical lock or other safety device. While transporting firearms, they will be placed in the trunk or securable compartment. Transporting a secured loaded firearm is prohibited. Ammunition must be stored and locked away separately.

FISHING
A Vandenberg Fishing Permit will be required to fish the coast and inland waters. The Use Fee at this time is FREE. There will be a fee to cover maps, Outdoor Locator Cards, and other administrative costs when the new requirement is added to the Space Wing Instructions. This new requirement will help us to locate persons in cases of emergency, contingency, and mission operations. Fishermen will be required to use the Vandenberg iSportsman Web-service to Check-in and Check-out of Fishing Zones.
